Big Society Sunday - in the Memorial Hall
A new event took place on 14th October 2013. It was designated as 'Big Society Sunday' - a pun on David Cameron's campaign. It was a community event to raise awareness of all the groups and societies which are existing in Welford-on-Avon.
There were some 15 societies represented and each had a stall to advertise their group's activities. The parish Council had an information table and the Neighbourhood Plan Committee, which was in it's infancy was launched.
There was good attendance from villagers and the Hall was 'abuzz' with animated conversations. The aim was to raise community awareness and that aim was successful.
Following the success of the event, the Parish Council is considering repeating this at intervals in the future.
